The open plan of this Soho loft, with the kitchen at center stage, required lighting and materials to define the rooms and different spaces. The loft is simultaneously elegant, casual and inviting. Textured Jerusalem stone on the walls, a copper and birdseye maple bar, commercial grade appliances and custom furniture and fixtures all create elegance without ostentation. Dark wooden beams in the ceiling define the dining room. Custom lighting reinforces natural light from windows at both ends of the loft. In 1998 the floor above was added to expand the loft. |
