Inspiration for this landmark hotel interior came equally from great Industrial Age interiors and the architecture of the neighborhood itself. In a large triangular atrium, Bogdanow designed a large lobby that serves as a lounge, waiting room, bar, restaurant and meeting place. An ingenious "air curtain" at the edge of a trussed glass canopy contains noise and smoke in the bar, another triangular space. Notable design elements include custom glass cage elevators with painted glass panels, custom furniture, crinkled silk organza curtains, quartz stone, end grain block and mesquite flooring and custom newel-post light fixtures in the sculptural circular balcony railings. |
