Taking the best of existing features - a landmark facade, original cast-iron columns, magnificent urban materials in the interior - and supplementing them with contemporary lighting, furniture and finishes, the design creates a restaurant that reveres historic New York but also offers present-day comforts.
A hotel-like lobby separates the main dining room from the bar and provides downstairs access to the guests. Once downstairs, guests can dine in the intimate private Rose Room, or socialize in the Granite Room. The ceiling in this bar opens up to the granite-slab undersides of the sidewalk above. |
